#GivingTuesday: What the Season is Really About

Giving Tuesday

Black Friday is tomorrow, and for a lot of unlucky workers, it’s starting as early as this afternoon.

While I’ll be enjoying an extra helping of turkey and cranberry sauce, people are already camping out and lining up for the best deals of the season.

Like every other year, someone is bound to get hurt. People will fight and generally be horrible. All for some electronics or the hottest, newest toy. It’s hard not to witness this behavior on the news each year and think that we’ve completely forgotten what the season is about.*

But then I remember that there are also the stories about people performing selfless acts every single day.

But you know what? Doing things for others feels good. It may seem selfless, but you get something in return. You get to know that you helped. You made a difference.

For Daniel and Paige Hunter, giving back has been integral in keeping them motivated in their USANA business and life, in general.

“In the beginning, our ‘why’ was to get out of debt, get healthy and travel the world. But you have to have something beyond yourself,” says Daniel Hunter. “When you unify and place your donations in the right hands, it’s powerful what you can do.When you see those children’s eyes, you know there’s no price on that dollar.”

We encourage you all to keep the true spirit of the season in mind for the rest of 2015 and into the new year so let’s kick it off by supporting the True Health Foundation (remember every dollar you donate goes to helping those in need!) and your other favorite charities on #GivingTuesday, December 1st.

While you’re at it, encourage your friends and family to also get into the holiday spirit by giving to others on Tuesday and throughout the new year!Giving Tuesday v1

*Don’t get me wrong, if you love the adrenaline rush of going shopping on Black Friday, by all means, get out there! But maybe this year we could collectively get just as excited about helping others?
