Celebrating #WorldServiceWeek Across the Globe

Seven Days of Service

We’re over halfway through World Service Week, and it has been humbling to see the #USANAfamily donate their time and resources to make a difference.

USANA employees across the globe have been busy contributing both as teams and as individuals in their own communities, as well. Two groups on two different continents kicked off the week of service with projects benefitting kids in the community. Read about their experiences and get inspired to make a difference this weekend!

The Gift of Knowledge

USANA Indonesia employees went above and beyond this year, spending a full day and late evening at the FMCH school in Cimanggis, Indonesia. Team members spent time with children, their parents, and faculty members. They engaged the kids with energizing activites and a fun presentation on healthy eating. Together, the USANA family and the children made fruit skewers, got crafty with coloring books, and enjoyed a brief lesson on nutrition education through storytelling.

The school building also received a facelift courtesy of the volunteers. Repairs were made to damaged walls and a fresh coat of blue paint gave a welcoming pop of color. The bright walls will be a reminder of the time the USANA family spent at FMCH. But the real gift is the education the children received to help them lead healthy lives for years and years to come.

A Home for Every Heart

Back at the USANA Home Office, our communications teams had the priviledge to spend an afternoon at Ronald McDonald House Charities in Salt Lake City, Utah. RMHC is a nonprofit organization that provides a haven for sick children and their families while receiving treatment at area hospitals. With over 50,000 families served at RMHC, it was only right to give back.

The volunteers split into groups and spent time cleaning, organizing, and doing yardwork. Aside from a few allergy attacks, the volunteers churned through the work and got the House looking spiffy inside and out. As you can tell by their comments, serving others is its own reward:

“The service we did at the Ronald McDonald House was awesome. It was touching to see families spend time together with their loved ones while we raked leaves. I felt good knowing we helped the House look clean and welcoming for those in need.”

Anthony, Translation Workflow Coordinator

“I like that it’s called the Ronald McDonald House. For the families staying there, RMHC is home.”

Brittany, Communications Traffic Coordinator

“One of the best moments of World Service Week was seeing toy cars from Tiny Tim’s at the Ronald McDonald House. We helped make cars last year at Tiny Tim’s, and seeing well-deserving kids play with them was heartwarming.”

Shauntel, Writer

“World Service Week pulls me out of my own little corner of existence and reminds me life can hit hard. I owe it to myself and others to pitch in and try to make the world better.”

Rich, Writer

Serve One or Serve Many, Simply Serve Any

Saturday, June 22 is the final day of World Service Week 2019. Whether you have an hour or an afternoon to give, there’s still time to serve in your community. Call a local nonprofit, reach out to a neighbor in need, stop by a retirement home on your way home from work. If you have the time, put on your USANA True Health Foundation shirt and lend a hand.

From all of us at the Foundation, thank you for another great #WorldServiceWeek! Tell us about your charitable service in the comments below.

Remember, 100 percent of all donations made to the USANA True Health Foundation always go to change the lives of those most in need around the world.
